Character Name: Eddie Munson
Age: 20
Canon: Stranger Things
Canon point: Post death/the end of Chapter 9, Season 4
History: Wiki link.
Personality:
• passionate: Eddie is a guy who puts everything he has into what he cares about, 100% or nothing at all. Whether it's his creative interests, like guitar and DND, or just expressing himself in every day life, he's unapologetic and intense. Sometimes, like when he's fulfilling his role as game master or mouthing off at school, that passion translates as being loud and attention-demanding. But Eddie can also be quietly earnest and no less passionate about and sure of what he's saying. He knows what he believes in, what he stands for, and what he cares about. He's also super goofy and dramatic, and not afraid to put himself out there.
• protective/good-hearted: There are many instances where Eddie proves himself to be a guy who, despite any fronts he might put up or jokes he might make, cares honestly and deeply about the people around him. He scouts out kids to join his DND group who would otherwise have no one to hang out with, and is vocal about his distaste for the bullies of the world. Despite his fear, he follows Steve, Nancy and Robin into the Upside-Down because he believes it's the right thing to do, and puts himself in harms way to protect others. He's good at getting people to laugh when they need it, and helping them feel comfortable, as evidenced by the way he helps calm down Chrissy when she comes to him for drugs, strung out and afraid.
• low self-worth: Eddie reacts to much of what happens to him over the course of the season with fear, and looks down on himself for it. He says as much to Steve, describing himself as 'no hero'. He runs and hides after witnessing Chrissy's murder, and clearly hates himself for, as he describes it, 'leaving her there'. The way he ultimately sacrifices himself to buy time is reckless and isn't even guaranteed to help, and Eddie throws himself into it anyway, showing little self-preservation. Eddie considers himself a coward and sardonically mocks himself, even for things he would not criticize in others- such as when he told the party that there's no shame in running.
• irritable: Eddie has a fairly quick temper, and is shown to snap in annoyance at people with little to no warning, his mood changing on a dime. The best example we get of this is fairly early on, when Eddie learns Lucas will be missing a Hellfire game. He shouts for everyone at the table to shut up, and throws food at Mike when annoyed by his responses. Eddie is impatient, jumpy, and prone to a good eyeroll.
• outcast: While not exactly a personality trait, being seen as an outcast and embracing it has shaped Eddie and in some ways, defined him. His rebellious nature has affected his schooling and also people's perception of him (the latter of which for both the better and worse). By embracing the label, Eddie has carved out a place of comfort and safety for himself with other weirdos, and learned to express himself through his interests. He has no interest in conforming and doesn't care how other people view him.
Suitability: Eddie has people he loves and cares about getting back home to. I think he would believe his best chance of doing that is staying here, close to ADI headquarters, where he can seek out more answers. He's not the kinda character to happily disappear into the edges of another world, especially when he doesn't know for sure whether or not his town, and more importantly the people that matter to him, are still in danger.
Powers/Abilities: Eddie is a normal human dude, so no powers or magic abilities. However, on the more mundane side of things, Eddie has a few notable skills. He can hotwire a car, pick a lock, and- far less usefully but way cooler- he can shred on an electric guitar.
Entity Affinity: If Eddie was to align with an entity, I would think that the Hunt and the Lonely are the best fits. The Hunt because Eddie has very real, personal experience with being hunted down by a group who had convinced themselves and each other that he was some kind of demon-worshipping murderer. He also considers himself a coward, but I actually think that the more literal version of the Hunt does not line up with Eddie- he dies because he is determined to not run away, and stands his ground when continuing to run may have actually been the smarter move. This obsession with 'not running away' cost him his life and could be an interesting tie in. The Lonely could also work because Eddie has some pretty deep-rooted abandonment issues, and he's definitely afraid of ending up alone. Emotionally, I think he feels very isolated, as a metalhead queer weirdo in a small town.
Inventory: Upon his death, Eddie had on his person a small pocketknife, a black bandana, and the clothes on his back.
